science current blog

The current event I found was and carbon atmosphere on a neutron star. The discovery was found at the university of Southampton and university of Alberta. Craig Heinke from the university of Alberta dicovered that the neutron star had thin layer of carbon in the atomsphere. Wynn Ho said that "the famous star's supernova was puzzling." The carbon atomsphere was discovered on nov. 5th. The two scientists had a picture of the neutron star but couldn't find out the charrastics of the neutron star. So they made a model and added carbon to the atmosphere to the model. The results came out as the same as the picture of the neutron star. They found out the carbon layer is only 4 inches thick.

I my opinion this is amazing how they could found so much from a picture of telescope. I would never be able to figure out what this means of or if this neutron star is going to affect the earth. Also, I thought it was interesting how Craig Heinke and Wynn Ho worked together to find if the neutron star had a carbon atmosphere. In addition, the way they made the model was fasciniating because they used a simple research method to find out the atmosphere. Lastly, I enjoyed reading the article. The discovery was amazing and I hope Craig Heinke and Wynn Ho find more neutron stars with carbon atmosphere.
